OLIVER WIDMANN
"Cycling is more than a sport.
It's lifestyle & passion."
BEGINNINGS
When I was ten years old, I discovered that you could do breathtaking tricks on a bike. That's why I started trial biking. The great thing about the bike was that I could set up courses and train myself at home. I was able to qualify for the World Youth Games in Charleroi/Belgium just one year later. At the age of twelve, I reached the top of the podium at the German Championships for the first time.
PATH TO BECOMING A PRO
The motivation and drive to achieve good results in competitions and to continuously improve in every training session became stronger and stronger.
I gained my first experiences at regional competitions and worked my way up to the national level.
In 2011, I was appointed to the BDR national squad after finishing in the top 5 at the German Championships. I also gained international attention with three Vice World Champion titles at the UCI World Youth Games in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
WORLD CHAMPION
With a lot of effort, hard work and professionalizing the training, I followed the big dream to be at the top of the international scene day by day.
This became a reality in 2018 & 2019. In both years, I was able to win not only the World Champion title, but also the European Champion title and the German Champion title in the Junior 26" category.
Moving to the elite category, in 2020 brought new challenges. My start was not easy due to the pandemic and the cancellation of many competitions. I won my first elite title in 2021 at the German Championships at the finals in Berlin.
With every competition that followed, I gained new experiences. After an injury-plagued 2022 season, I made my breakthrough at the highlight of the season – bronze at the World Championships in Abu Dhabi. I was able to continue this success in 2023 by becoming Vice World Champion.
LIFESTYLE
With the bike without a saddle, I took a different path than most. It has been an integral part of my life for many years.
But my fascination with bicycles goes far beyond trial sports. No matter if street trial, mountain biking or gravel biking. There have never been so many types and styles of bikes. The bicycle is more than a means of transportation and more than a piece of sports equipment. It leaves a lot of room for innovative ideas in terms of use and technology.
I look forward to what is to come.
